MVFC Officer and Members Mourns the passing of James M. Rodimak
Tue, Dec 13, 2016

James M. Rodimak passed away on Dec. 13, 2016. He was born Sept. 14, 1924 in New York City, N.Y., the son of Stephen and Anna Rodimak. His family moved to Marydel, Md., in 1930. He joined the Army in 1943 where he was assigned to the 314th Infantry, 79th Infantry Division. He was taken prisoner on Jan. 20, 1945, where he would remain a POW until the end of WWII. After returning from the war, he lived in Collegeville, Pa., where he met and later married Mary E. Kromka. They returned to Marydel, Md., and later moved to Hartly. James had three small businesses throughout his life. He was the owner and operator of Rodimak, Inc., a plumbing company; he ran Val-Mar Printing, a small printing company; in his 80's James started Rodimak and Fran, an out of home custom framing business. He had a love for building things and creating unusual and different projects, which he would display in his yard. He held various offices and helped create the Junior Fireman program for teenagers as a member of The Marydel Volunteer Fire Company. He was a lifetime member of The Hartly Volunteer Fire Company, in which he held various offices. James was community-minded and loved both towns. James was active in the Republican party where he and his wife, Mary, were both commitee members. He was honored to cast an electorial vote for the State of Delaware when Barry Goldwater ran for President. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary E. Rodimak; and a brother, Stephen Rodinak. He is survived by his daughters, Reviva Ann Rodimak, Frances K. Callaway, both of Hartly, Brenda Leigh Wingle and husband, Joseph, of Dover; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, with a viewing an hour before at The Marydel Volunteer Fire Company. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to either Marydel Volunteer Fire Company or Hartly Volunteer Fire Company in recognition for all they do for their communities. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com.
